Disney Must-Do: Fantasmic!

Fireworks! Lasers! Water screens! Disney villains! Disney heroes! This show has it all!!

Fantasmic!

I had read that seating for Fantasmic starts 90 minutes before the show, and to get there early in order to get seats. This didn’t sound like much fun to me. So, when I was in the throes of planning our June 2011 Disney trip, I looked into the alternatives. At that point in time, we were able to take advantage of the Fantasmic Dining Experience. Here’s how it worked: I made our reservations 180 days before our trip. On our Hollywood Studios day, we ate dinner at Hollywood & Vine. This nice (if pricey) buffet had tons of choices, enough for even the pickiest eaters in our party. Once our meal was over, we received VIP vouchers for our reserved Fantasmic seating. About 30 minutes before the show, we headed over to the special entrance on Sunset Boulevard (next to the Beauty and the Beast show). We strolled in, took our seats, waited a few more minutes, then enjoyed the spectacular show!

I definitely recommend getting the VIP vouchers for this amazing show. It saved us so much time – time we were able to spend enjoying the park rather than sitting and waiting.

Right now, there are three restaurants that have Fantasmic Meal Packages: The Hollywood Brown Derby (love this place!), Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano (I’ve yet to go there), and Hollywood & Vine (great buffet!). Pick which one works best for you, and make your dining reservation asap!

  1. I can confirm that those stone ‘seats’ are pretty uncomfortable after waiting for 90 minutes!!!

I can believe it! We don’t generally do much sit-down dining at WDW, but the Fantasmic package is so worth it. I wish Hollywood Brown Derby had been an option when we went last year – I love that restaurant!
