It is said that Walt Disney often told his Imagineers to “plus it.” When they’d achieved something, they were to take it to the next level, making it even better. Walt Disney World is attempting to do this with the advent of MyMagic+ and FastPass+. I thought I’d jump on board and rename my blog Disney for Five+, rather than Disney for Five. This is really more accurate, since my goal is to help families of five or more explore and enjoy the World. This idea came about after planning a few Disney World trips and learning that WDW is rather geared toward families of four, especially in the fact that most of their resort rooms allow for a maximum of four people. This is kind of strange, since Walt himself said, “The important thing is the family. If you can keep the family together–and that’s the backbone of our whole business, catering to families–that’s what we hope to do.”
Yes, there are the All Star Music suites which sleep up to six people, but they were always very popular and booked up fast. With the opening of the Art of Animation Resort and its family suites, a step has been made to accommodate those of us who don’t fit the “quad occupancy” model. Hopefully, more such steps will be taken in the future.
