They’ve got the spirit, you’ve got to hear it, under the sea!

Part of New Fantasyland involves a Little Mermaid section. Prince Eric’s castle towers over two attractions: Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid (a ride) and Ariel’s Grotto (a meet-and-greet). We spent plenty of time at both on our most recent family trip to Disney World!

First, I have to say that The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie. I just love the music, the characters, the story! So, I was really looking forward to this new part of Fantasyland. However, I didn’t think that my three boys would be all that enthused. Turns out, they loved it, too!

In the ride, you board a clam shell and visit scenes from the movie. The clam shell seats two or three people. The highlight (for us, anyways) is the “Under the Sea” room, where this infectious song plays. We got into the habit of dancing in our clam shells as we passed through this room. Other riders probably thought we were nuts, but we had a blast!

That's why it's hotter under the water. Ya we in luck here, down in the muck here. Under the sea!

Ariel marries her Prince and waves goodbye to her dad, King Triton.

Ariel marries her Prince and waves goodbye to her dad, King Triton. Makes me tear up every time!

In the meet-and-greet, you get to see Ariel for a brief visit. They move you through this attraction pretty quickly. It’s fast, but so worth it!

Are you a Little Mermaid fan? If so, I highly recommend this new part of Fantasyland!

We only got to do this ride once last time, but SO glad we did it! We both loved it, though I guess that’s not a surprise since TLM is my favourite Disney movie, and my daughter is a 7-year-old girl. 😉 I’m REALLY impressed with the animatronics though. They’re superb!

    • Little Mermaid is my fave, too (the music just can’t be beat). Now that the era of FP+ has started and we can no longer “work” the fastpasses, we found that the wait for Under the Sea (and Dumbo and Barnstormer) is considerably shorter during Wishes and Main Street Electrical Parade, so we could go on it over and over! Just a little tip for next time 🙂
