Eating around the World Showcase!

High on my latest Disney to-do list was eating my way around Epcot’s World Showcase. Several months before our trip, my husband and I planned it all out. We would (mostly) get just one food item and one beverage from each pavilion and share them, thus increasing our capacity. We planned to do it all in one day, but had a back-up second day at Epcot as part of the plan. Well, we were off to a good start on our first Epcot day, but only made it about halfway around the World before preempting our plans to have an impromptu dinner with friends. Here are the highlights of Day 1:

Mexico: pomegranate margarita and agave flight at La Cava del Tequila. Yep, we already broke our "share each drink between the two of us" rule.

Also in Mexico: "trio combo." The queso was SO GOOD our youngest son drank the leftovers :D

Norway: school bread and an Aquavit glacier shot.

China: potstickers and plum wine. The potstickers were really good!

Nudel gratin and Schofferhofer (grapefruit beer).

Italy: espresso gelato affrogato. We paired this with a nice Prosecco.

We had to take a break after Italy in order to work up an appetite for dinner with our friends. A couple days later, we finished off our “eating around the World” project. Rather than hoofing it to the American Pavilion and restarting there, we started back up again in the Canada Pavilion. Actually, we grabbed a croissant doughnut from the Refreshment Port (right next Canada), but my husband made it legit by grabbing a Canadian beer.

UK: fish and chips, a Pimms cup for me, and a Bumblebee for Rich.

France: ice cream martini. Mmmm....

Morrocco: chicken and lamb shawarma platter with a red sangria.

By the time we polished off that shawarma platter, I was pretty darn full. In Japan, we decided to just have a glass of sake and grab some Japanese candy to go.

Japan: trio of gluten-free candies.

Yes, this "cloudy sake" tastes as good as it looks :P

That was it. I was out. There was no room left for the American Pavilion’s offerings, which don’t look all that amazing, to be honest. Though I may have failed to complete the mission, my husband brought home the win by having a cream cheese pretzel and a Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. I think he may have been too full to photograph it 🙂

Have you ever eaten your way around the World Showcase? What would you recommend?
